The season continues for the boys of Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji soccer, as they defeated Storm Lake by a 3-1 margin in the semifinals of the Class 2A substate. Zubeen Azari scored all three of the SLP-O goals, including one on a penalty kick. Next up is a rematch with the rival Tigers of Spencer in the substate finals. Spencer defeated Webster City 4-0 to advance on Thursday. That game will be played Saturday in Spencer at noon. Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji split the regular season series with the Tigers, with each team winning on their home turf.
The Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji girls did not have the same fortune on Thursday, falling to Spencer 4-1 in the Class 2A regional quarterfinals. Alyssa Christoffer notched the lone goal for SLP-O, which ends its season with a 10-6 record.
